After 3 years of working in Development at both the National Museum of Natural History and the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, I currently work in the Director’s Office at the National Museum of Natural History as Assistant to the Director. Coming out of undergrad, I knew that I wanted to work in museums but honestly had no idea how to go about those aspirations. With a background in Art History and English: Creative Writing, I quickly learned that I needed further education to get the kind of job I wanted. I decided on Drexel’s Museum Leadership graduate program because when I was looking at schools, it was really the only program of its kind.

The program combines lots of truths unique to museums and nonprofit arts organizations all while teaching valuable business, marketing, and development skills that are translatable to any industry. I believe this program helped set me apart when I was in the midst of my first job search and has continued to as I’ve grown in my career. Now that I’ve been working a few years, I’ve witnessed firsthand many of the issues facing the field that were discussed at length in the program. I firmly believe the experience prepared me for my current and past roles, giving me the critical thinking skills necessary for museum work.

The best thing about this program is the professors, who are all museum professionals that have seen just about everything in their impressive careers. They are always there to guide and mentor you through every stage of the program and beyond. I highly recommend this program to anyone thinking about a career in museums or nonprofit arts organizations!
